FEATURING HEATHER LEA'S FLEX ROPES
A LITTLE dance HISTORY
I have been a professional dancer for over 5 decades! And I'm still working and teaching professionally! I am thrilled to have danced with The Florida Ballet Company, in the Revival of West Side Story on Broadway, Copperfield on Broadway, the lead in Bob Fosse's Dancin' on London's West End, and the London cast of Cats as part of an American/British Actors Equity artist exchange program. I'm one of the Original Dancers in the film Dirty Dancing and watch for my commercial for Tiffany & Co. airing very soon.
FORM OVER FUNCTION
What's kept me dancing for so long? I understand the fundamentals of how to move safely by consistently applying proper form when I'm moving. As the body changes over time. functional movement requires forethought - form over function. Working with resistance is the key that unlocks the gate.
Resistance is a very interesting word and concept to me, because it represents both tightness and a withdrawal that seems to encroach as we age, but when it's used functionally, it's an empowering tool that leads one toward flexibility and a widening of perspective. I actually see pleasure as the end product of the application of resistance.
A LITTLE FITNESS HISTORY
In fitness, I am certified to teach Group-Exercise through NASM/AFAA. I am also a certified Senior Fitness Specialist through NASM/AFAA. And since I've been dancing and teaching dance for decades, the most natural progression for me was to find a way to bring these worlds together as a means of functionally training the body with resistance and combine it with the flexibility and fluidity of dance movement. The result is my unique and dynamic collection of dance-exercise formats that incorporate resistance training.
FUNCTIONAL BODY TRAINING™
DANCE-EXERCISE & RESISTANCE TRAINING
FEATURING HEATHER LEA'S FLEX ROPES™
My goal is to help people improve their muscle strength and endurance while safely adding resistance intensity to cardiorespiratory training in a predominately low-to-zero-impact dance-exercise experience. In simple terms, I combine a fun dance experience and resistance training in a safe program that's suitable for everyone, including active older adults and seniors.

when to work // when to rest // how to rise // how to balance // how to jump
NOW LET'S DANCE!
Stand Bend & Shake™
The premise of Stand Bend and Shake™is simple, but you’ll be surprised how challenging this workout can actually be! This unique follow-along class also uses Heather Lea's Flex Ropes™ to increase resistance and cardiorespiratory training for the ultimate challenge. Concentration is on breathing, form, and sustaining both from start to finish.
Sit & Shake™
Sit and Shake™ is the modified format of Stand Bend and Shake™ using Heather Lea's Flex Ropes™. It encourages participants to engage in cardiorespiratory and resistance training while remaining seated.
Ropes & Balls™
Ropes & Balls™ are the tools! Using Heather Lea's Flex Ropes™ and core stability exercise balls, this workout focuses on exercises to improve balance, strength, and flexibility. Fluid movement and breath work incorporates the entire body to extend through full range-of-motion.
Synergy Means: Working Together
Small Group & Private Sessions: Everyone needs variety and support and exercising with others is a great way to experience these things! And working privately is ideal for a senior or active adult client to establish principles of corrective training.
We want to feel in control! We want to feel safe!
We want to feel great! We want to enjoy ourselves!
